With a bright, airy atmosphere and a sleek granite counter surrounding the open kitchen, the Big Sur Oyster Bar displays the talents of its staff and the freshness of its top-quality ingredients. Guests will enjoy Big Sur’s expansive menu of fresh and top-quality seafood. New items include the tropical crab cocktail, tempura shrimp served with Asian plum dipping sauce, Big Sur lump crab cake, honey lemon glazed salmon and more. Oysters of the day are served by the half dozen or dozen and offered at market price. Favorites such as oysters Rockefeller, New England-style lobster roll, pan roasts, fish and chips are still available. Now available daily from noon – 4 p.m. is the exclusive items and prices during the “What the Shuck” happy hour. In addition to half priced raw oysters and clams, diners can also indulge in the Big Sur carbonara, pacific coast shrimp rice bowl, cajun pasta, grilled branzino, fish tacos or a salmon burger.

The Hotel Mac Bar

The Hotel Mac Bar was completely restored in 1978 from the fire damage seven years prior. Bill and Griff acquired authentic pressed tin roofing and hand-painted and installed each panel throughout the restaurant, including the spacious and elegant bar.

Any night of the week you will find sailors sharing bottles of wine with local executives, or you will see a local city councilperson watching the ballgame with a tattoo artist, 2 web developers, and retired grandmother with a taste for espresso martinis.

Everybody steps into ‘The Mac’ from time to time.

The solid brass bar top is the original installation from the restoration over 35 years ago, and it’s brightly reflective polish is a testament to the hard work and care the Hotel Mac Bartenders have devoted over the years.
The wine list is thoughtful and extensive, gravitating toward notable Northern California favorites with a few global varietals from Chile, Australia, Italy, Spain, and other excellent growing regions.

Happy Hour is every weekday, Monday-Friday, 3:00-6:00, and includes select $5 beer, $5 white, and $5 red wines, along with heavily discounted appetizers from the bar menu. Ask your server for daily selections on all happy hour items.

You will be served by some of the most talented bartenders in the San Francisco Bay Area, who strive to provide perfectly concocted classic cocktails alongside the most innovative 21st Century libations being developed today. Stop into the Hotel Mac for a quick bite, a glass of wine, and some well-earned relaxation.
